Brian Smith

Project Manager / Owner

Brian Smith is an experienced Site Manager, Builder, and Project Manager with over 25 years of experience delivering residential and commercial construction projects. His background covers all aspects of construction, from foundations and structural work through to recladding, renovations, new builds, and project delivery.

Brian holds a Heavy Class 2 Licence and is an experienced operator of excavators, tip trucks, tracked bobcats, and other site machinery. He is a TSL-approved operator and has completed 4WD recovery training, HazardCo health and safety training, and trauma first aid training, bringing a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and practical problem-solving to every project.

Known for his hands-on approach and leadership skills, Brian is equally comfortable managing subcontractors, coordinating complex site operations, operating machinery, or working alongside crews to ensure projects are completed to a high standard.

Outside of work, Brian is a devoted husband and proud father of three children. He is actively involved in his local community and regularly participates in regional park planting days, volunteer beach clean-ups, and track maintenance and remedial works. He values environmental stewardship, community involvement, and passing on a strong work ethic to the next generation.

Brian combines extensive industry experience, practical construction knowledge, strong leadership, and a commitment to safety and quality, making him a trusted professional across a wide range of construction and infrastructure projects.

Brian and I have worked together for over 10 years, from the first day we met our morals and quality of workmanship aligned straight away. We both have our unique strengths and enjoy learning from one another. This is reflected through the onsite environment at Building works with a handpicked team. There is nothing more satisfying than standing back and looking at a beautifully finished project.

I grew up in the industry and began building over 20 years ago, starting my career as a carpenter on super yachts. My experience has helped develop an affinity toward high end fittings and luxury finishes, attention to detail and nailing the finishing touches is what sets us apart at Building Works. In my free time I enjoy anything to do with the water, kiteboarding and diving mainly, I spent 3 weeks diving in Raja Ampat and was blown away by the biodiversity of the area.
